My favorite cup from Robynn Storgaard (and what I most love about Instagram)

 

My collection of cups and mugs is quite big as I have a weakness for beautiful objects for everyday use. You would often find me in smaller or bigger boutiques, checking porcelain, stoneware and ceramics – touching, feeling and smiling at cups, bowls and plates. When my cupboards get too tight, I find new homes for my least used pieces and… shortly after that, I get new ones. But every now and then, there comes this ONE cup that just makes all the other wait to get my attention for weeks. A cup that I reach for several times a day, as if I only had this one.

Recently I found my favorite cup for this fall and I absolutely love it to bits. Unlike many other finds, I didn’t discover it in a store but on Instagram. I came across an account belonging to Robynn Storgaard, a Copenhagen based ceramic maker and I fell for her work. Robynn says that all her pieces are made “for the sake of keeping” and although I only have this single cup, I can really see what she means.
My new companion is very nice to hold, beige with some gentle blush (as if it somehow was intimidated by it’s popularity). I only use it for coffee, but still it gets used a lot. It is one of the first things I grab when I get up while it’s still dark (that 5am coffee!) and one of the last ones that I put away each evening.

 

Mój ulubiony kubek (i za co wciąż uwiebiam Instagram)

 

Mam dość sporą kolekcję kubków i filiżanek, a wszystko przez fakt, że mam słabość do pięknych przedmiotów użytkowych. Można mnie spotkać w mniejszych lub większych sklepach i sklepikach z porcelaną czy ceramiką, jak oglądam, dotykam i uśmiecham się do misek, filiżanek czy talerzyków. Kiedy moje szafki przestaja mieścić wszystkie skarby, dla tych rzadziej używanych znajduję kolejne domy i… wkrótce znów wzbogacam kolekcję o coś nowego. Ale raz na jakiś czas, trafia się taki kubek, który sprawia, że wszystkie inne muszą cierpliwie czekać na moją uwagę przez długie tygodnie. Kubek, po który sięgam wielokrotnie w ciągu dnia, tak jakbym miała tylko ten jeden.

Od niedawna mam właśnie takiego ulubieńca i kocham go całym sercem. W odróżnieniu od większości pozostałych, nie znalazłam go w żadnym sklepie, a poprzez Instagram. Kiedy natknęłam się na konto Robynn Storgaard, mieszkającej w Kopenhadze właścicielki niewielkiego studia z ceramiką, przepadłam! Robynn mówi, że wszystkie jej prace powstają po to, aby je zatrzymać. Ja mam tylko ten kubeczek, ale rozumiem co ma na myśli. Mój nowy beżowy towarzysz idealnie leży w dłoni i z jednej strony ma cudny delikatny rumieniec. Zupełnie jakby był onieśmielony faktem, że tak go faworyzuję. Używam go tylko do picia kawy, ale tej wypijam sporo. Jest jedną z pierwszych rzeczy po które sięgam po wstaniu z łóżka, gdy jeszcze jest ciemno (ta kawa o 5. rano!) i jedną z ostatnich, które odstawiam na miejsce przed pójściem spać.

 

 

 

 

I am so glad that Instagram (which has changed a lot through the last 2 years and I really dislike the changes) is still a place where you can find true inspiration and people that somehow seem close, even if they are from far away. When I started chatting with Robynn, I found out that her story is a little bit like mine. Denmark is her second home (Robynn comes from Canada) and just like me, she has three half-Danish children. Now, several times a day, I enjoy my coffee from the cup she made in her lovely studio and smile. Because I like my coffee, I love my cup and I really enjoy the thought that one day we might actually enjoy a cup of coffee together.

 

Bardzo się cieszę, że Instagram (mimo zmian, których od dwóch lat bardzo nie lubię), wciąż jest miejscem, gdzie możemy znaleźć inspiracje i natrafić na ludzi, którzy wydają się bliscy mimo tego, że się nie znamy i mieszkamy daleko od siebie. Kiedy zaczęłam trochę pisać z Robynn okazało się, że Jej historia jest trochę podobna do mojej. Podobnie jak w moim przypadku, Dania jest Jej drugim domem i obie mamy po trójce pół-duńskich dzieci :). Teraz, kilka razy dziennie, popijam kawę i się uśmiecham. Wszystko dlatego, że uwielbiam kawę, uwiebiam mój kubek i bardzo się cieszę na myśl, że pewnego dnia napijemy się kawy wspólnie.
